Sustainable Sundays Week 1!

Writer: Amanda Amanda

Hello everyone and welcome! I'm so excited to get started on this series- it's really been on my mind for a while. I've posted a video on this Sunday's tip on my IG: @acolombo.This week we're starting with the most un-talked about and most important aspect of sustainability: PLANNING!

-Throwaway culture is rampant in the US and it's soo convenient to buy that plastic water bottle and use that plastic straw. It's so easy to go ahead- throw them away after and never think about them again. But where does it all go? Sustainability is a practice that helps dismantle throwaway culture and focus on reusing items we already have as well as reducing our consumption.

-Of course now, with COVID, most of us are home, but that doesn't mean we don't have to plan and resort to wasteful practices. Just 5-10 minutes of planning during your morning routine really does make a difference- home or not. I usually thing about my day- if I'll get an iced coffee and need a reusable straw or if I'm going grocery shopping and need my reusable bags. You can put these items in your car, purse, backpack, or whatever you carry around.

-Use what you have! The most sustainable thing you can do is use your current products until they run out, then buy the more sustainable option. Always! Don't listen to those companies greenwashing out there telling you you need the latest expensive "green" product.

-I love love love my Rocketbook notebook to plan- a reusable notebook that allows you to scan your notes and drop them in your cloud/Google drive/etc.

-With that, thank you for all the support, I hope you enjoyed reading and I'll see you next week !! <3
