It's my birthday! (And first post!!)

Hello all!

The day is finally here- the debut of my blog! I've been waiting many months for this day and why not debut on my birthday?! Seems just right. First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Amanda Colombo and I'm a climate change fanatic, volleyball playing, dog loving masters student soon entering the real world pretty soon. If you know me, you know I'm always on the hunt for information about sustainable solutions, clean beauty, no waste reusable products, and much more. This blog is meant to spread my knowledge- academically and practically. My plan is to write once a week about either a list of products I'm enjoying, sustainable lifestyle , or even some tips to people who just want to learn more!

Now- why do I do this? Why am I so passionate about climate change adaptation and spreading awareness? First off, it's the biggest issue humankind is facing and has ever faced. It's an issue that used to be in the long term, but we are seeing effects today such as stronger and more frequent storms, sporadic weather patterns, and ocean acidification. Reason number two is with an exception of big IPCC reports, no one talks about climate change. Yes, recently it has been getting some news. But no wide spread media outlets, that I know of atleast, talk about solutions. Now, I study energy finance and data at school because it's, in my opinion, the future of how we're going to decarbonize. Energy is an immense sector that contributes to a huge part of the emissions on earth. And of course we need energy for productivity, heating, cooling, transportation, etc. What better way to get involved than be able to calculate the finance of renewable energy projects and push for a decarbonized economy?
